HR Analytics: 12 KPIs Every Growing Business Should Track

If you can't measure it, you can't improve it. These twelve HR KPIs are the dashboard every executive team should review monthly.

Stop reporting headcount. Start reporting health.

Headcount is a number, not an insight. The KPIs below tell you whether your people strategy is working.

The 12 KPIs

  1. Voluntary attrition rate — annualised, segmented by tenure and team.
  2. Regrettable attrition — leavers you wish had stayed.
  3. Time to hire — req opened to offer accepted.
  4. Quality of hire — performance rating at 12 months for new joiners.
  5. eNPS (employee net promoter score) — surveyed quarterly.
  6. Absenteeism rate — unplanned sick leave per FTE.
  7. Training hours per employee — completion is a vanity metric; hours invested is not.
  8. Internal mobility rate — % of roles filled internally.
  9. Compa-ratio — actual pay vs. market midpoint.
  10. Gender pay gap — like-for-like and overall.
  11. Span of control — average direct reports per manager.
  12. HR cost per FTE — including software, salaries, training spend.

How to surface these

A monthly people scorecard is enough. Pull from payroll, ATS, performance, and survey tools into one dashboard. Avoid the trap of building it in spreadsheets — by month six you will be reconciling versions instead of analysing trends.

HRPPL's reporting module ships these as default dashboards with drill-down by team, location, and tenure band, so you can move from describing what happened to predicting what's next.
